Did you know? State Group Health Insurance Update

As we transition to the State Group Health Insurance (SGHI) program effective on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, here are some things for you to consider:

1. Please review your December pay stub as the new deductions begin for your January benefits. Remember we pay for benefits a month in advance, so your December premium deductions are for the January benefits. Any corrections will have to wait until January to be processed. If any payroll issues are noted do not call the Business Office; you will need to email Rebecca Lowery at loweryr@southflorida.edu.

2. Did your spouse decline coverage so you can cover them under your insurance plan and now needs a letter of coverage? This is available on the People First website. Log in and go to “Insurance Benefits” and click on it.

Then you can select the “Confirmation Statement.” This letter shows all your coverage and which dependents are covered under the plan.

3. We have been notified that the “Securian Financial” link for updating life insurance beneficiaries is expected to be open on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025. At that time, you will need to log in to People First and input your information.
